Castration Station

Yep, it’s a post about the castration of our little piglets. Not going to lie, it was quite a sh!t show of a morning.

Poor Sharon was irate. She was SO mad at us for castrating her male babies. We get it, we do but such is life. We castrate our piglets to avoid the bore taint you could experience when cooking or eating the meat of a male pig. Not to mention unwanted mounting, aggression, or pregnancies of their female sisters!

So, as we were castrating the male piglets, Sharon started to act out, she lifted the corral with her snout off the ground and started thrashing and lunging at us. Its always exciting/terrifying when an angry 350 pound mini-bull dozer of a sal comes at you. But, by some miracle, our 4 little male piglets got caught in our little chicken run and we were able to get them away from Mama Sharon, got them castrated, and back to Mom.

And we were still able to make it to church that morning. #blessed
